The Music and Dance Group meet on a Wednesday morning in the training room between 10.30 am and 12 noon and offers a person a platform in which to express and explore their creativity and their artistic talent. It can also encourage and enable a person to build confidence self-esteem and self-awareness.
During a music and dance season individuals participate in different styles of dance and movements which offer a variety of physical benefits. These movements can be done individually or along with others.
Various equipment is also used such as balls. Hoops, ribbons, and a parachute which enhances creativity and enjoyment as well as promoting imagination and participation.
Many forms of music are used ranging from pop, instrumental, country and western, classical and music from different genres. Percussion instruments are played to create different sounds, rhythms and beats.
Music and Dance sessions continually offer a forum where people can freely express their ideas and choices as well as deciding on how they want sessions to develop. It promotes individual creativity as well as welcoming joint interaction with other people to achieve a common goal.
The Music and Dance Group are involved with other performance groups such as Aberdeenshire Council “Artsibility” project which provides various workshops and offers involvement with a host of other performing artists in areas such as singing, dancing, movement, storytelling and music from different cultures.
